About the Event

The word ‘Meraki’ is an untranslatable Greek word that is used to describe doing something with soul and total love; to leave a piece of yourself in your creative work. I chose this title for my recital because it relates to two things I love doing the most: playing music and writing.

I will perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major not only because it is a piece I have always wanted to play, but also because I can relate the music to my own inner life. I have written poetry to complement the concerto performance since words are another way for me to express myself.

As I play, please refer to the poems and see how the words and music reflect each other. This recital demonstrates how two seemingly different arts--poetry and music-- are actually similar to each other. As they combine, they add more beauty because it gives a deeper meaning to the message being conveyed.

Program
